8-BIT RETRO SOUND FX GENERATOR
Generate custom chiptune and retro sound effects procedurally right in your browser using the Web Audio API. Tweak oscillators, frequencies, pitch bends, and envelopes, then download royalty-free .WAV audio files directly for Unity, Godot, or Unreal Engine.

ZERO AUDIO ASSET MEMORYYou don't even need to import audio files. You can generate this exact sound effect at runtime in Unity without adding any MBs to your APK or game download size:
using UnityEngine;
public class ProceduralSFX : MonoBehaviour
{
public static AudioClip GenerateLaserSFX(float duration = 0.25f, float startFreq = 880f, float endFreq = 220f)
{
int sampleRate = 44100;
int sampleCount = Mathf.CeilToInt(sampleRate * duration);
float[] samples = new float[sampleCount];
for (int i = 0; i < sampleCount; i++)
{
float t = (float)i / sampleRate;
float progress = t / duration;
float freq = Mathf.Lerp(startFreq, endFreq, progress);
// Square wave formula with decay envelope
float phase = t * freq * 2f * Mathf.PI;
float rawWave = Mathf.Sign(Mathf.Sin(phase));
float envelope = 1f - progress;
samples[i] = rawWave * envelope * 0.5f;
}
AudioClip clip = AudioClip.Create("GeneratedLaser", sampleCount, 1, sampleRate, false);
clip.SetData(samples, 0);
return clip;
}
}
HOW PROCEDURAL 8-BIT AUDIO SYNTHESIS WORKS
Waveforms & Chiptune Physics
In 1980s retro arcade machines and consoles (NES, GameBoy, Atari), sound hardware did not play recorded audio files due to tight memory constraints. Instead, hardware programmable sound generators (PSG) created waveforms mathematically:
- Square Wave: Rich in odd harmonics, producing the punchy, buzzing signature sound of retro blasters and 8-bit leads.
- Sawtooth Wave: Contains all integer harmonics, delivering sharp, aggressive game laser and synth tones.
- White Noise: Pseudorandom sample values used to synthesize realistic explosions, impacts, and snare drums.
Exporting for Unity, Unreal & Godot
Clicking "Download .WAV" encodes the generated 32-bit floating-point audio buffer directly into a standard uncompressed 16-bit PCM RIFF WAV audio container.
All generated sound effects are 100% royalty-free (Creative Commons CC0). You can freely drop them into commercial mobile games, Steam titles, game jams, or personal video projects without attribution.
